ABOUT Verina Louise Song

Wife, mother of two sons, grandmother of a boisterous grandson & Midwife….BLESSED IN ABUNDANCE….. Midwife and Birth Center Manager at TLC Home Birthing Centre and Midwife at Tender Loving Childbirth Private Midwives Practice. I believe childbirth is a natural process requiring little to no Interventions and rely more on the mother’s body’s ability to contribute to a healthy pregnancy and positive birth experience. Building a mutually trusting relationship during the antenatal period, empowering moms to be confident and mentally prepared for positive birth outcomes. Mental Birth Preparation is vital to encourage moms to take charge of their own bodies and NOT to be an OBSERVER over what happens in THEIR BIRTHS & PREGNANCY!!! BABY only has ONE CHANCE to be born, there is NO UNDO… REWIND…

My Experience:

Currently, since April 2016, Midwife and Birth Centre Manager at TLC Home Birthing Centre, where we take the utmost care in ensuring that clients and their little one gets all the care needed throughout the pregnancy until they feel confident to be the parents they were meant to be after their little one is born. No baby gets born with a manual, it’s trial & error… and it’s been that way through the ages. Our goal is to have a confident client, who will be able to take care of herself & baby when they go home while involving husbands/partners and siblings enabling them to be part of the experience of childbirth, making it a unique experience. Throughout my 33-year midwifery career, my duties at various hospitals included:

  • Antenatal, Labour and Postnatal care of patients.
  • Assist Obstetrician/Private Midwife Practitioner with normal; assisted and water births.
  • Deliver infant when Obstetrician is not in time for the delivery.
  • Care of infants in the theatre of Caesarean Section patients. Scrub for Caesarean Sections.
  • Assist Anaesthesiologist with Spinal/Epidural Procedures.
  • Promote and assist Breastfeeding post-birth.
  • Teach/Advise new mothers on Immunisations, infant care and mothercraft.
  • Mentor new staff members.
  • Grieving Process: OUR FOREVER BABY
  • LINKWOOD SPECIFIC: Support and assist four new Unit Managers (during my time at Linkwood) with tasks
