I am a very passionate, hard-working, experienced and caring midwife. I am flexible and adapt comfortably to changing and challenging situations as oftenhappens in midwifery. As a mature professional, I
not only work well as a team player in relation to midwifery colleagues and other members of the multidisciplinary team but am able to use my own initiative as demanded by circumstances at a given time.
Self-employed as a midwife in private practice, providing comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum ( managing all stages of labour) and postnatal care to women with low-riskpregnancies at different settings such as hospitals, low-risk midwife-led birthing centres, as well as home births in clients, own home depending on patients’ choice and suitability in terms of safety. All this is done in liaison with obstetricians, paediatricians and other members of the health team in local hospitals both in the government and private sector to ensure optimal care and positive outcomes. I am able to do both normal births on “dry land” as well as water birth if patients prefer to explore different options. I am able to site intravenous cannula and commence intravenous infusion as necessary, if a caesarean section is required I inform and explain to the patient and her family if available and timeously communicate with the relevant members of the multidisciplinary team, prepare the patient for operation as per hospital policy and accompany the patient to theatre. Attend all relevant records and documents necessary to complete a birth.
