ABOUT Sue Cohen

I’ve been a Midwife for 49 years and feel so grateful & priviledged for sharing each couples journey, thru pregnancy, birth and parenthood. I became a sudent nurse at the age of 17, and after witnessing the birth of a baby – well… I just could’nt get over the miracle & achievement – I’ve been hooked ever since!! Each & every Blessing of pregnancy & Birth are absolutely special and unique for the whole family. Not only is it the Birth of a gorgeous baby, but the birth of a mother, father, and the birth of a whole family as well. I’m absolutely Passionate!! The wisdom and compassion a woman can intuitively experience in child birth can make her a source of healing and understanding for other women.

My Experience:

I worked at St. Thomas Hospital in London for a few years after graduation. When I returned to South Africa, I spent many years at Park Lane Clinic, Labour Ward. Studied Psychiatry at Tara & Sterkfontein Hospital. Studied Community Health Nursing and Mothercraft at Wits Technicnon. In 1994, I founded The Stork’s Nests (Ante Natal education & baby clinics) and was the National co-ordinator for Netcare, and opened 25 clinics, countrywide. Once these were successful I started in private midwifery practice – teaching ante Natal classes, immunisations, birthing mainly at Genesis Clinic and doing home births – for 19 years.
